World Contributions

XXXXXAmerica's leadership role within the world is not limited to overseas conquest. The U.S. is a main contributor to the fight against world hunger, AIDS research, and disease control around the world. On May 3, the U.S. Department of State announced its donation of 72.5 million dollars to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. The largest portion of this donation is intended to target problems in Africa, where 4.3 million people are considered refugees. Also, this year the U.S. Department of Agriculture provided 91 million dollars to developing countries specifically to feed children living in poverty. America does more in the Humanitarian department than just write checks: the Food and Agriculture Organization of the U.S. has recently begun a program that benefits African children that have lost their parents to HIV/AIDS. This program teaches orphans agriculture skills that will end a cycle of poverty and allow them to support themselves.
