- The issue of Digital Copyright
is currently a very big one, and because of the complexity of digital media,
it presents a difficult situation trying to protect
it. There are currently many people and companies trying to find a way
to protect their digital media products, such as music, movies and software.
At the same time, because it is so easy to bend the rules, many people
are distributing the media as fast as they can using large peer-to-peer
networks
like kazaa. The people who do this are given the label "pirate" because
they are stealing from the creators. Some groups such as the RIAA(Recording
Industry Association of America) are doing
everything
within their power to stop these "pirates". The RIAA is responsible
for the wave of lawsuits against downloaders.
- A copyright is the right given
to authors to copy, adapt, distribute, publicly perform and display their
works under the Copyright law of 1976. This law
protects media such as music and movies.
