A form of government in which a religious leader or religious council governs the country. The laws of a theocracy are based on a holy book (Islamic Koran, Christian Bible, etc.). Only one official religion is allowed in a theocracy. Algeria, Egypt, and Pakistan are some examples of theocratic countries. |
